Marriott School (MS), established in 1986 and formerly known as the Community Learning Center, used to be affiliated with the National Federation of Women’s Club (NFWC) nursery program. From 1986 to 2000, MS, under the supervision of its School Directress, Herminia F. Avellanosa, offered preschool courses and produced quality graduates fully trained and well-prepared for elementary education.
In 2000, MS realized the increasing demand for quality and affordable elementary education. It then decided to offer elementary courses starting with grades one to four for school year 2000-2001. By 2002-2003, MS offered a complete elementary course up to grade six on top of its original preschool courses. It then received a full recognition from the Department of Education (DepEd) for complete elementary course in January 2004.
In 2009, as part of its expansion program and community service, MS constructed a second building to open and house its secondary education. For school year 2009-2010, MS institutionalized its courses for first year to third year high school initially and by school year 2010-2011, MS completed its secondary education course up to fourth year high school. And through God’s grace, come May 2011, DepEd gave the School a full recognition of its Secondary course effective school year 2011 – 2012.
By February of 2016, MS was certified by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) as one of the grantees of DepEd’s Educational Service Contracting (ESC) Program effective S.Y. 2016-2017. The ESC Program is a program provided for by Republic Act 8545 (amending R.A. 6728), or the “Expanded Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education, or GASTPE. Its main objective is to decongest public secondary schools by “contracting” the excess capacities of private high schools through the provision of subsidies for students who, otherwise, would have gone to the public high schools.
